La Jolla Half Marathon Proceeds Announced

At the October 12 meeting of the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla, Trenton Bonner (center) and Don Hodges (right) presented a check for $185,000, the proceeds from the 2018 La Jolla Half Marathon, to Bart Calame, immediate past club president. Bonner and Hodges, who are club members, chaired the event that was held on April 22, 2018. Over 6,000 runners participated in the half marathon and 5K. The proceeds from the half marathon are given as grants to over 50 non-profit and charitable organizations in La Jolla and San Diego. The 39th annual La Jolla Half Marathon will take place on April 28, 2019.
The Kiwanis Club of La Jolla meets at noon on Fridays at the La Jolla Presbyterian Church, 7715 Draper Avenue. Kiwanis is an international organization dedicated to serving the needs of young children. New members are welcome. To learn more about the club, visit kiwanisclublajolla.org

55th Annual Pancake Breakfast

When: Saturday, July 28, 7:30-11:30am
Where: La Jolla Recreation Center, 615 Prospect Street

$10 Tickets available at the door!
Tickets include all you can eat pancakes and sausage, live music, raffles, pony rides, face painting & more!
Kids 10 and under get in free with purchase of adult ticket.

Since 1963 the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla has organized an annual Saturday morning pancake breakfast featuring delicious pancakes with various toppings, sausages and beverages.  For several years the La Jolla Recreation Center has been the host site in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department “Celebrate the Family month.”  The event is intended to honor the community with a chance to get together with friends and family for pancakes and fun and to enjoy the summer with breakfast outdoors.  There is typically live music and raffle prizes donated by local businesses, and pony rides, air jumps, and face painting for the kids!

Weekly Kiwanis News: Jan 1st – Jan 7th

Hello Kiwanis!

Welcome back from what I hope was a fantastic holiday break for you all.  Now, let’s return to putting more grant money back into our beloved community!

Please join us Friday, January 6th, for our regular weekly Club meeting, at our normal Presbyterian Church locale.

We have two check presentations to distribute:

  • Youth Services will give Storytellers of San Diego a check for $1,000, and I encourage you to visit their website at www.storytellersofsandiego.org.

Hello everyone!
Welcome back and hope everyone had a good time this past Saturday at our Christmas Holiday Party.  Thanks again to member Wendy Matalon and the Chateau for such a beautiful evening.
