La Jolla Kiwanis Foundation
Charitable Organization
The La Jolla Kiwanis Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization that raises funds from our events to in turn make it possible to return the funds to other worthy charitable organizations with an emphasis on children.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors all of whom are former and current Kiwanis Club of La Jolla Presidents and other officers. The Foundation has its own set of bylaws that form the basis for its governance.
The primary function of the Foundation is to safeguard the fiscal health of the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla. The Foundation sets the overall budget amount for the Club to distribute each year. Club officers and charitable committees then decide in detail how to allocate the distribution of the funds each year.
The Kiwanis Club of La Jolla and the Foundation are both volunteer organizations with no paid staff or salaried officers. All of the funds raised by and donated to the Foundation are used for charitable causes with the exception of very minor administrative costs.
